Christmas music bingo
Print cards with Christmas song titles, plus a song sheet to check off. Scan the QR code at the top with your phone, the playlist starts in Spotify, and whoever recognizes a song marks the title. Pick the American list or the British Christmas hits.
Which songs are on it
The American list has 60 songs from the holiday charts, including All I Want for Christmas Is You, Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree, Jingle Bell Rock, White Christmas, The Christmas Song, It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year, A Holly Jolly Christmas, Last Christmas, Feliz Navidad, It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas, Christmas (Baby Please Come Home) and Sleigh Ride.
The British list has 48 songs that come back to the UK charts every December, including Last Christmas, All I Want for Christmas Is You, Merry Xmas Everybody, I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday, Do They Know It's Christmas?, Merry Christmas Everyone, Driving Home for Christmas, Wonderful Christmastime, Lonely This Christmas and Step into Christmas. Pick it under "United Kingdom" in the song list.
Every print gets one of three song orders. Playing two rounds? Print twice.
How to play music bingo
Every guest gets a card with song titles. One person is the DJ: they have the song sheet and a phone connected to a Bluetooth speaker.
The DJ scans the QR code at the top of the song sheet and presses play in Spotify. The songs play in the order of the sheet. Let each one play for about 30 seconds, or until someone sings along, then skip to the next and check it off. Anyone who recognizes the song and has the title on their card marks it.
The first player with a full row shouts BINGO. The DJ checks the card against the sheet: if every marked song has really been played, it's a win. Then keep going for four corners or a full card.
For the office party or Christmas dinner
Play to the first full row between courses and save the full card for dessert.
At the office party, print 5 x 5 cards for a longer round and keep a small prize ready for the first full card.
Swapping gifts too? In gift exchange bingo, unwrapping a gift is the draw.
What you need
A printer, a pen for every guest, a phone with Spotify Premium and a speaker. A Bluetooth speaker is plenty for a living room; for a hall, plug the phone into the sound system.
A 4 x 4 card has fewer squares and bigger text, which is easier for older guests and anyone without their reading glasses. A 5 x 5 card makes each round last longer.
Questions
Is it really free?
Yes. No account, no email address and no watermark. There's a small bingobingley.com at the bottom of each card.
Where does the music come from?
From Spotify. The QR code opens our playlist in the Spotify app; we don't play anything ourselves. You need Spotify Premium, so the playlist plays in the right order without ads.
What if a song doesn't work?
If a song ever fails, skip it and leave it unchecked on the sheet, so nobody can mark it.
Can I use this at a bar or a public event?
This music bingo is for private parties. For a public event, check what music licensing your venue needs.
Do you store the names I type?
No. The cards are made in your browser and the names are never sent to us.
